Our Forensic Psychologist conducts psycho-diagnostic evaluations on inmates and provides expert testimony to district courts. Maintains effective communication with the faculty.
- Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited college or university
- Coursework and experience in conducting psychodiagnostic evaluations
- Administering, scoring, and interpreting psychological tests
- Conducting clinical interviews
- Diagnosing psychological disorders
- Previous experience in the evaluation and treatment of sexual offenders in a correctional setting is highly desirable if contracted position targets this population
- Licensed to practice psychology in the state by the appropriate state licensing board
- Current CPR Certification
- Any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by facility
ResponsibilitiesReviews referrals and requests for Clinical Service Reports. Determines reason for referral and methods necessary to address referral question. Consults with supervisor if concern regarding the appropriateness of a request occurs.Gathers and reviews relevant background data from institutional, medical, and mental health records, as well as other relevant treatment information.Conducts psychological interviews with inmates ascertaining current mental status, sexual history, history of sex offending, past history of sex offender treatment as well as other mental health treatment, approach to offense, approach to treatment, and relapse prevention pl an. Adapts psychological interview focus if inmate is not being evaluated for sexual predator issues.Administers, scores, and interprets psychological tests as needed to address referral questions. Psychological tests may include objective and projective personality tests, actuarial risk assessments, neuropsychological screening tests, and intelligence tests.Under the direction of the Regional Mental Health Director or Corporate Director of Mental Health Services, writes psychological evaluations, Clinical Service Reports, or other such psycho diagnostic assessments that address the referral question.Under the direction of the Regional Mental Health Director or Corporate Director of Mental Health Services, provides clinical consultation to a state Multidisciplinary Team, Parole Board, or other such entity.Provides testimony regarding psychological evaluations, when a subpoena is received and required by the courts. Notifies supervisor when a subpoena is received.Maintains clinical expertise through continuing education, participation in peer review and case staffing, self-directed readings, and other such activities.Maintains the confidentiality of inmate information in accordance with law, CCS Policy and Procedure, the policy and procedures of the Facility, the ethical standards of the American Psychological Association, and the standards of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care and the American Correctional Association if those two accrediting bodies hold applicability to the facility.Maintains accountability for services provided through timely and accurate recording of activities submitted weekly to the Mental Health Coordinator or Mental Health Director.Documents provision of mental health services in the inmate's health record in accordance with Policy and Procedure.Provides timely notification to the Regional Mental Health Director or Corporate Director of Mental Health Services of issues that might adversely affect inmates, or the Facility.Complies with employee standards of the Facility. Compliance includes, but is not limited to, the maintenance of a professional work environment and personal appearance consistent with professional responsibilities, development of harmonious working relationships, and timely notification of supervisory personnel of absences from institution.Refers inmates requiring mental health services to mental health staff.Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.Post orders, if applicable, per site contract.Perform other duties as assigned.
